Carl Ginet Correspondence
Non-causal libertarianism and a web page about you
August 8, 2008
Dear Professor Ginet,
I have added a page about you to the Information Philosopher website.
http://www.informationphilosopher.com/solutions/philosophers/ginet/I am trying to collect in one place all the major philosophers, living
and dead, who have made a major contribution to the problems of free
will, ethics, and epistemology, which I believe may benefit from a
re-examination in the light of modern information theory.
If you have any time for it, I would appreciate any criticisms or corrections.
In it, I try to show your priority in the Consequence Argument popularized later by Peter van Inwagen.
Similarly I think you were a few years ahead of Harry Frankfurt in the
significance of hypothetical mind controllers, and then a strong critic
of their importance.
I also mention you briefly in my History of the Free Will Problem - a work in progress.
